What would you do if friendship, morality and parenthood suddenly collided? What starts as a peaceful holiday in the Austrian Alps slowly turns into a pressure cooker of impossible choices. This gripping drama asks an uncomfortable question: when it comes to your child, where do you draw the line?

Genre: drama
Language: Dutch, subtitles: English
Length:1 hrs. 43 mins
(2025)

Two couples who are close friends have been sharing a holiday home in the Austrian Alps for years. When their teenage daughters are involved in an accident during a joint vacation, their apparent friendship quickly crumbles. When the parents learn that only one of the girls can be saved, and that saving one means losing the other, their bond collapses. Old resentments surface, trust evaporates, and what begins as a moral dilemma spirals into an increasingly absurd and unsettling battle of manipulation and desperation. Because when it’s your child at stake, anything goes. Right?

The film is written and directed by Academy Award winner Mike van Diem and features powerful performances by Thekla Reuten, Fedja van Huêt, Noortje Herlaar and Valentijn Dhaenens. Together, they portray parents pushed to their limits, in a story that is both razor-sharp and deeply unsettling

Awards
At the 2025 Netherlands Film Festival, Voor de Meisjes won three Golden Calves: Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay and Best Leading Role.

Reviews
“The tone, which balances seriousness and lightness, is one of the strongest aspects of Voor de Meisjes. It keeps you drawn into the characters’ nightmare from the very first, masterfully directed opening scene.” De Volkskrant *****

“ ‘Our Girls’ is a knockout: a pitch-black comedy, a true actors’ film in which the cast is given free rein.”  Trouw ****
