During World War II a Jewish boy stays with his foster mother in Eastern Europe. When she dies, he is on his own. Tormented by hunger and cold, mistreated and chased away, the child travels from village to village. In the meantime, he witnesses the terrifying violence of the brutal Russian and German soldiers.
By the end of the war, the difficult years have made its mark on the boy and he has changed forever. A film adaptation of the critically acclaimed bestseller by Jerzy Kosiński.
