Spaceship Earth is the true, stranger-than-fiction, adventure of eight visionaries who spent two years quarantined inside of a self-engineered replica of Earth’s ecosystem called BIOSPHERE 2 in 1991.

With pain in our movie hearts we need to inform you that, due to the recently tightened Covid-19 measures, the InScience Film Festival in Natlab Eindhoven has to be canceled. There is a bright spot though; you can watch most films of the InScience Film Festival online.

Language: English, no subtitles

The experiment was a worldwide phenomenon, chronicling daily existence in the face of life threatening ecological disaster and a growing criticism that it was nothing more than a cult. The bizarre story is both a cautionary tale and a hopeful lesson of how a small group of dreamers can potentially reimagine a new world.

Inspired by the work of Buckminster Fuller and the science fiction film Silent Running, the scientists embarked on a crazy experiment in voluntary quarantine, by the standards of which today’s Covid-19 isolation pales into insignificance. Never before has the story with the dramatic conclusion, including original footage of the ‘biospherians’, been told so revealingly.

This film is the opening film to the InScience film festival, and will be preceded by a very special welcome message.
