To find meaning in his survival of a terrible train accident and to deal with the guilt of giving up his seat for a woman who then lost her life, Otto Hofman turns to his friends and colleagues to find out what really happened.
This brings them to Markus (Mads Mikkelsen), a man forced to return home from a deployment to care for his teenage daughter after his wife is killed in a tragic train accident. When Otto, a survivor of the wrecked train, shows up claiming foul play, Markus decides to find those responsible.
Screen writer and one of Denmark’s most renowned filmmakers Thomas Anders Jensen creates another dysfunctional and unlikely family. The film is highly entertaining but also offers up much to think about; it turns out that pulling a revenge-driven trigger can lead to consequences far greater than bargained for.

Blessedly, rather than giving us a straight-ahead middle-aged revenge thriller, this unpredictable Danish film takes apart the whole trope. There are action thrills, to be sure, but they are folded into what becomes a sort of group therapy session on the psychology of grief, guilt, vengeance, chance, and coincidence.
