The Storioni Trio takes chamber music to places where it is rarely heard and introduces a wide audience to the rich repertoire written for small ensembles. They will be joined this afternoon by the Otilka Quartet, an international ensemble of string musicians known for their fusion of musical styles.
Please note that this concert will last until 13:40. It will not be possible to leave the hall earlier.
The renowned Storioni Trio, featuring Bart van der Roer on piano, Wouter Vossen on violin, and Marc Vossen on cello, has curated a unique repertoire, specially selected to resonate with students and enthusiasts alike.
In their own words, the trio shares: “'We thought it would be a nice idea, for this Studium Generale concert, to play works by peers of students. One highlight of the lunch concert will be Ludwig van Beethoven's Theme with Variations, Opus 44. Composed when Beethoven was just 22 years old, this masterpiece takes inspiration from a beloved aria by Dittersdorff. Beethoven's variations brilliantly display his enormous talent and imagination. It's a personal favourite of ours, and we're very happy to play it on this special occasion.”
Otilka Quartet
In addition to the Storioni Trio, the Otilka Quartet will also perform this afternoon. This dynamic and international ensemble of four musicians, was born out of a shared passion for classical music and a desire to push the boundaries of traditional string quartet playing. In addition to performing the standard repertoire, the quartet experiments with the works of lesser-known composers, the art of arrangement, and the fusion of musical styles, including jazz, tango, and modern music, among others.
Founded in September 2020 at the prestigious Conservatory of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, this string quartet has quickly established itself as a promising ensemble in the world of chamber music. The Otilka Quartet is composed of four talented musicians: Iris van Nuland, Lucien Renette, Francisca Galante and Job Huiskamp.
The Otilka Quartet will perform "Joly Braga Santos 1st String Quartet, part 3 and 4.”
