How do you say goodbye when words aren't enough? In KENAVO (Breton for goodbye), two performers explore the loss of a friend through an unusual mix of parkour, dance, circus, and live electronic music. Moving between reality and memory, they use their bodies to express what words cannot. A personal and dreamlike performance about grief, resilience and learning to let go.

Accompanied by a live synthesizer soundtrack, the performers push parkour beyond its athletic roots, creating a sensitive and expressive physical language. Through falling, climbing, balancing, and finding their way back up, they explore the feelings that come with losing someone you love.

At the heart of the performance is a box, representing the space between two worlds: life before and after the loss of a loved one. Being inside the box represents a transitional space between these two universes. It is a limbo where time feels paused. The only way to leave is by fighting your way out, breaking through the walls like a body emerging from an egg.

Blending physical movement, sound and striking visuals, KENAVO takes you on a journey through grief, remembrance and transformation. At times vulnerable and unsettling, at others tender and hopeful, the performance explores what it means to say goodbye and find a way forward.

About the artists
Tim van den Bos de Lucas (27) is a Spanish movement artist who began practicing parkour at the age of 13. Over the years, he expanded his training to include tricking and acrodance, eventually discovering a passion for contemporary circus. Drawn to conceptual creations and stage performance, he continues to develop his own movement research while working towards becoming a circus director and choreographer.

For this performance, Tim is joined on stage by Ahmed Mokadem.

Award
KENAVO won the BNG Circus Award 2025. The jury reported: ‘With Kenavo, Tim van den Bos de Lucas shows how parkour can be used to merge movement, dramaturgy and scenography into a universally resonant and impressive professional performance.’
