Are you the new Impro-Boss? This workshop is a crash course of just four lessons in which you will learn the basics of improvisation, regardless of your skill level and it touches all styles of music.
This workshop consists of 4 sessions.
Are you enchanted by Jimi Hendrix’ psychedelic riffs, or John Coltrane’s soaring saxophone lines? Would you love to learn how to play solos like theirs yourself, but don’t know how to start? This workshop series of just four lessons will teach you the basics of improvisation in any style. Using an application-oriented approach, we will discover how to play on songs in different genres. With a little music theory, practice, and practical tips, you will see that improvising solos is not only easier than you might expect, but also lots of fun.
The course will be taught by two experienced musicians from Studentproof Jazz:
Jerom van der Zande plays alto saxophone in a number of interesting bands, from modern jazz to rock and roll and even a party band from Limburg. The second teacher is guitarist Maarten Kamphuis. Coming from a blues and rock background, he now mostly plays jazz. Among other projects, he is the guitarist in the Studentproof big band.
Of course, all instruments are welcome! It is however advised that you have some experience playing your instrument, and preferably can read sheet music. A backline including a drum kit, guitar and bass amplifiers, and an electric piano will be provided.
