Want to print a tote bag with your own design? Then join us for this DIY screen printing workshop and learn how to print your own creations from scratch.

Screen printing is an ancient technique that originated in China during the Song Dynasty. It involves creating a stencil on mesh and pressing ink through it to print designs on paper, textiles, or other objects. This technique produces bold and durable results, making it ideal for everything from art prints to T-shirts.

In this workshop, you will be guided by Pien van de Nieuwenhof, a teacher of fine arts specializing in illustration and animation. In her work, Pien explores themes such as mental health, feminism, and relationships.

Practical information

  • Bring a few items to use as inspiration, such as photos, sketches, or your own designs.
  • We will print using black ink on a white bag. For the best results, your inspiration materials or sketches should have strong light-dark contrast. Shapes are easier to print than intricate lines.
  • The ink is permanent and may stain your clothes, so please avoid wearing your best attire.

Lastly, this workshop is open to everyone! No prior experience is needed -- Pien will guide you through the process and assist with any questions you may have.
