Action, crime

Machete’s eponymous hero is a former Mexican agent seeking justice for his countrymen, who always come off worst in border conflicts. At first it briefly looks like a political film, although you shouldn’t take the message too seriously. But the plot isn’t the most important thing; politics soon makes way for grotesque, bloody action.

Just like his earlier Grindhouse tribute Planet Terror, director Robert Rodriguez most of all wanted to continue the B movie style of the 1970s, full of violence, sex and deliberately bad acting.
In fact Planet Terror (2007) already showed the trailer in which the would-be assassin Machete was first previewed.
