And, nice extra: it'll be screened in 3D! So come and experience why Dune keeps winning awards for best cinematography. We will provide the 3 D glasses!

Language: English – subtitles: Dutch

Based on the classic 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, Dune tells the story of a young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding. He must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe and ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s spice — an exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence —only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

Though it’s not the first time that Herbert’s book has been adapted for the screen, this is arguably the most successful attempt at it. Predecessors like Dune, David Lynch's 1984 film – which was a critical and commercial failure – and John Harrison's miniseries failed to reach a large audience. With his unique art direction and great ensemble cast, Villeneuve impressively manages to bring Herbert’s universe to life.

Reviews

  • “From ornithopters that flit like dragonflies to vast spaceships that glint in the mist, these are the kind of sights that Roy Batty rhapsodised about in his dying moments in Blade Runner.” The Guardian
  • “It’s clear that ’Dune: Part One’ is enamored with its source material. Even the uninitiated can sense this film was created by actual fans of the book and this passion radiates from every gorgeous frame. Hans Zimmer’s potent score sweeps through scenes like a desert breeze and the visuals, oh, the visuals!” the Daily Aztec.
