On happiness enhancement
Most people agree that personal happiness or ‘the subjective enjoyment of one's life as-a-whole’ is so important that public policies should be aimed at contributing to a greater happiness for a greater number. But how can we know what makes people happy and how much influence do policies have on people’s lives?
Professor of sociology Ruut Veenhoven (EUR) is the founder of the World Database of Happiness, which holds hundreds of studies on happiness across nations and across time. He will try and answer the question how we can make more people happier more of the time.
