Lion tells the story of the Indian boy Saroo Brierley. As a five-year-old boy, he accidentally boards a train that takes him thousands of kilometres through India; far away from his home and family.

Little Saroo has no idea where he is or where he is from. After surviving on his own for weeks in the rough streets of Calcutta, he is taken into an orphanage and eventually adopted by an Australian couple. Through a chain of events when he is thirty years old, Saroo starts searching for the place where he lost his family years ago. With only Google Earth and his earliest childhood memories, every night he peers for hours at the train tracks leading to Calcutta, until after a year he thinks he recognizes that one specific station. He leaves for India in the hope of finding his family.

Lion is the adaptation of the bestseller ‘My long way home’ and features a star cast with (Oscar® winner) Nicole Kidman, (Oscar® nominee) Roony Mara, Dev Patel, and David Wenham.
