In this wildly original sex, drug and hip-hop biopic, Kneecap play themselves and unleash a global battle cry in defense of their cultural heritage.

Genre: comedy, docu drama
Language: Gaellic & English, subtitles: Dutch
Length: 105 mins.

When fate brings together bored music teacher JJ with self-proclaimed "lowlife scum" friends Naoise and Liam Óg, it marks the beginning of an unprecedented Irish hip-hop act. Rapping in their native tongue, the rebellious rap trio Kneecap (yes, they really exist), breaks through in Belfast and quickly becomes the figurehead of a civil rights movement dedicated to saving the Irish language. As public debate intensifies, police and politicians do everything in their power to silence the anarchic trio.

Awards
The film received two significant nominations at the Sundance Film Festival: the NEXT Innovator Award and the Audience Award.

Reviews
“Bursting with unruly energy that practically escapes the confines of the screen, Kneecap is a riotous, drug-laced triumph in the name of freedom that bridges political substance and crowd-pleasing entertainment.” Variety

“An audacious film that completely obliterates the expectations of the musical biopic genre.” The Wrap

“Kneecap is one of the most likeable films this year. Turn up the volume and enjoy.” Original-Cin
