Based on the memoirs of Marcelo Rubens Paiva, I'm Still Here tells the true story of the disappearance of his father, former congressman Rubens Paiva, during the Brazilian military dictatorship in the 1970s. The lives of Rubens Paiva's wife, Eunice (played by Fernanda Torres), and their five children are changed abruptly, and forever, by his disappearance.
Director Walter Salles (Central Station, The Motorcycle Diaries, On the Road) returns to fiction filmmaking with this powerful portrait, his first film in 16 years in his native Brazil. I’m Still Here became a box office hit in Brazil, and rightfully so.
