The breathtaking odyssey Flow follows a young cat who, along with a motley crew of animals, searches for dry land on a waterlogged earth. Though the humans are gone, the cat seems to manage just fine. But when the water begins to rise rapidly, she barely manages to get by on a sailboat, where she is joined by a capybara, dog, lemur and bird. Together they must survive in a world of sunken ruins and destructive storms.
In only his second film, director Gints Zilbalodis creates a mythical world reminiscent of the work of Hayao Miyazaki. With stunning animation and realistic behavior of the animals, Flow is a symbolic and immersive journey. Praised worldwide, this groundbreaking film won the Oscar for best animated film and enchants adults and children alike.
And remember, the characters are NOT anthropomorphic and there is no speech: quite original, don’t you think?
Awards
Flow won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film and was also nominated for Best International Feature at the Oscars.
