Just a few meters from the Limbo Pad to Filmhuis De Zwarte Doos, Fabula dives deep into the troubled life of Jos, a small-time criminal from the Dutch province of Limburg, born into a family plagued by disaster. When a drug deal goes south, and with a grandchild on the way, Jos sets out on a personal quest: why is everything always against him? Along the way, he encounters a parade of peculiar characters, each bringing him closer to the root of his misery.
Fedja van Huêt delivers a brilliant performance as the weary but determined Jos, in a film that blends crime comedy with fantasy, folklore, and a bit of magical realism.
Oh, and guess who's telling the tale: a tick! Yep, really.
