Step out of your daily routine and open your ears to a world you rarely get to hear: the rich, expressive sound of the classical accordion.
This program is part of the Farewell Week of Lucas Asselbergs.
With the quartile just getting started, Studium Generale invites you to take a well-deserved break with a lunchtime concert; it’s time to clear your head and fill it with beautiful music.
This time, we’re thrilled to welcome Vincent van Amsterdam, winner of the prestigious Nederlandse Muziekprijs, the highest honor a Dutch classical musician can receive, awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
Vincent opens up a new world of unexpected beauty to the open-minded listener. An authentic soloist who fully surrenders to his music, he becomes one with his instrument. His virtuosity is a way to express emotion, in both the smallest details and the grandest gestures.
Experience Grieg and Tchaikovsky as you’ve never heard them before, and discover the sounds of Scarlatti, Tchaikin and Solotarjov in a fresh new light. Welcome to the surprising sound world of the classical accordion.
Vincent is committed to giving the accordion the place it deserves on the classical stage. By translating classical and contemporary works—some of them highly complex—into accordion music, he continues to explore the fascinating possibilities of this instrument. Through personal contact with composers and via commissions, he also regularly adds new compositions to the accordion repertoire.
According to us, this might just be your chance to fall in love with the accordion.

The Farewell Week of Lucas Asselbergs

That’s why this week’s SG programs are all about... Lucas! In a subtle, surprising, and sometimes very personal way, he weaves through it all like a common thread.
