Classical music might not be your usual go-to, but the NSO 2025 program is anything but typical. Led by conductor Chloe Rooke, the NSO brings together students from across the Netherlands for a month-long project dedicated to creating something truly special. Together, they deliver an unforgettable performance with precision and passion.
The evening’s program includes Hector Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, a mind-bending piece that delves into themes of obsession and fantasy, as well as William Walton’s Viola Concerto a piece known for its emotional depth and intensity. Dana Zemtsov, a celebrated violist, will join the orchestra as soloist for Walton’s concerto, adding her unique interpretation to the performance. The concert also features Ludus, an exciting new composition by composer Karmit Fadael, written specifically for this year’s tour.
This year’s theme: Madness
Madness isn’t just a concept here; it’s the heart of the program. From Berlioz's audacious storytelling to the NSO’s sheer dedication—spending a month mastering challenging music—it’s a celebration of daring passion. In today’s unpredictable world, the performance is also a poignant reminder of the importance of art and culture.
Whether you’re a classical music enthusiast or completely new to the genre, this concert offers an accessible and inspiring entry point. Step outside your usual routine and experience an evening of bold music-making that you won’t soon forget.
