There are 190,000 intersex people in the Netherlands. They are all people born with a body that does not fit the normative definition of male or female. They have often been silenced, even by themselves, on the advice of doctors. Theater maker Marleen Hendrickx, herself intersex, broke that silence with her performance.
During a lunchtime theater/dance performance at the Studium Generale, the audience witnessed a heartbreaking testimony about intersex youth.

Some reactions from the audience:
"It was a beautiful and moving performance! How the whole audience was taken into solitude. No words for it: made a deep impression..."
" I was very impressed with the way this theme was presented. Creative and impressive. Also the courage to do it was admirable".
"I didn't like the theater/dance format, but it actually worked very well because so much thought went into how to tell the story. It was more impressive than any SG lecture I've been to."
"I honestly had no idea what an intersex person goes through in their life, so this was very enlightening."
