On December 18, 2024, journalist Marc Hijink (NRC) gave an insightful lecture on ASML’s remarkable journey from a modest startup to a global semiconductor powerhouse. Drawing from his three-year in-depth study and decades of reporting, Hijink unveiled the story of ASML’s critical role in manufacturing 90% of the world’s chips and its emergence as a geopolitical focal point between the US, China, and Europe. He also shared personal insights into the company’s unique culture.
The event was hosted in collaboration with TU/e’s Future Chips Flagship.
Some reactions from the audience:
"The journalist provided unique yet still approachable insight into ASML without making it overly specialised."
"I would have loved more technical details, but I understand that's not for everyone"
