The Brabanter Cover Competition

See your illustration exhibited and published

Are you, or do you know, someone connected to TU/e who loves to illustrate? Then this is your moment. We are organising an illustration competition in relation to the exhibition The Brabanter, which will be on view this spring in the Atlas building.

The exhibition revolves around the fictional magazine The Brabanter, which is inspired by the iconic cover pages of The New Yorker. The magazine itself does not exist, but the covers do. They are created by artists and illustrators from the region, and each cover is a small work of art telling a story about the beauty and diversity of the province of Noord-Brabant.

Now it’s your turn. We invite you to design a special edition cover for The Brabanter yourself, inspired by TU/e.  Just like the other artists in the exhibition, your work will become part of this growing visual archive of the region.

If selected, your cover will be:

  • Featured on The Brabanter website and Instagram
  • Offered for sale as a poster (you’ll receive the majority of the proceeds)
  • Exhibited in portrait poster format in Atlas from 22 April – 12 May, 2026 shown in our exhibition in Atlas

How to take part
Send an email to studium.generale@tue.nl with the subject: “The Brabanter cover”. Please include:

  • A sketch or written idea of what you would like to illustrate
  • A short text explaining the story or idea behind your cover
  • A selection of your work (portfolio, website, social media, or pdf)

The deadline to send in your sketch or idea is Sunday 8 February
If you are selected, the deadline for submitting your final artwork is Sunday 15 March. The competition is open to all members of the TU/e community: students, staff, and affiliates.

We’re curious to see how you imagine TU/e, and we’re looking forward to your ideas.
