What happens when an artist approaches engineering from a completely different perspective?
On Tuesday October 20, artist Alexandra Hunts takes you behind the scenes of Absent Body For a Mass, the new artwork she is creating for TU/e’s 70th anniversary. The sculpture is inspired by a tuned mass damper: an invisible counterweight that reduces movement in tall buildings and helps keep them stable.
During this lunch lecture at TU/e innovation Space, Alexandra will share her artistic and technical making process. How did experiments, engineering principles and work in the TU/e workshops shape the final piece? And what can engineers and designers learn from the way an artist works? After the talk there will be room for questions and the opportunity to visit the workshops in Matrix.
Curious to hear more from Alexandra? Stay tuned: in Q3, Studium Generale will also organize a cultural program with her, which can be found on our website in due time.
