After years of inspiration, steady leadership, and sharp reflections on everything from Bach to AI, we’ll soon be saying farewell to our very own pater familias — Lucas Asselbergs, Department Head of Studium Generale — who is heading into a well-deserved retirement. That means we’re looking for someone new to take the reins.
Are you (or do you know) someone who can easily navigate between students, artists, scientists, and university leadership? Someone who can think strategically and roll up their sleeves when needed? Do you have a passion for culture, science, and societal challenges — and the ability to inspire others along the way? Are you fluent in both Dutch and English? Then this might just be your next adventure.
Studium Generale TU/e is looking for a new Head of Department.
A connector with vision. Someone who provides direction, creates space, and isn’t afraid to swim against the current now and then. You’ll lead a passionate team of nine colleagues who together curate a rich and diverse program of lectures, films, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and more.
You don’t need to have all the answers — but you do need the drive to explore, to listen, and to lead with curiosity. Comfortable in the spotlight? Fantastic. A strategic thinker with a creative twist? Even better.

Applications open until 30 May, 2025.
We promise a workplace full of ideas, good lunchtime conversations, spontaneous brainstorms about future programs, and a team that’s fully committed to making it all happen — together.
