Music and Architecture - an intimate relationship
The French poet Paul Valéry noticed that the one thing music and architecture have in common is that the person undergoing them is necessarily immersed in both. In other words, music and architecture are immersive arts in a way that none of the other arts can fully claim to be.
Dr. Jacob Voorthuis takes this as the point of departure for an exploration of their relationship and the nature of spatial experience. Jacob Voorthuis lectures in the philosophy of the built environment as well as architecture and the arts at the TU/e.
