Electrifying Mobility

Dr. ir. Carlo van de Weijer
Woensdag 4 februari , 12:40 - 13:20
Blauwe Zaal, Auditorium
Prijs: Gratis (Student) Gratis (Anderen)

Electric mobility is often presented as a principal solution to climate change. Large-scale adoption however remains lagging. What are the main technological and societal bottlenecks behind electrification, and which innovations will actually shape the future of mobility?

In this lecture, mobility expert Carlo van de Weijer provides a realistic and nuanced perspective on electric mobility beyond the headlines. He will explore the current state and future direction of electric driving and zoom in on how electrification is evolving, where common misconceptions come from, and which challenges still need to be solved.

Technologies such as fast charging, battery safety, and system integration are key to advancing electric mobility further. Using examples from TU/e and the student team InMotion, we’ll also discuss how high-performance and experimental platforms can function as testing grounds for new mobility innovations.

Dr. Ir. Carlo van de Weijer is General manager of the Eindhoven AI Systems Institute and director of the Smart Mobility Program at TU/e. Moreover he was responsible for TU/e’s student teams from 2012 till 2021. He has extensive experience in the automotive industry and advises governments and industries worldwide on the future of mobility.

This lecture is organized by InMotion in collaboration with Studium Generale. InMotion is a TU/e student team working on innovative battery technologies to accelerate the energy transition in the automotive industry.
