Imagine an afternoon spent stepping outside your routine—away from solving equations, writing reports, or scrolling through social media. Picture yourself making a tangible difference by providing companionship to the elderly and people with disabilities who face challenges in maintaining social contacts, or by raising awareness about the situation of the homeless.
Sign up for one of the four Social Heroes activities, and for just one afternoon, offer your kindness, companionship, and support, creating meaningful connections that transcend the everyday.
You can register for the activity “Street Tour with Former Homeless People” via this webpage. To sign up for one of the other three Social Heroes activities, visit their respective web pages.
This is more than just volunteering—it’s an opportunity to broaden your perspective, step out of your world and learn from others whose lives might be very different from your own. Engage in conversations that inspire and challenge you in unexpected ways.
There are four activities to choose from:
- Street tour with former homeless people
- The big student bingo with the eldery
- Creating spring crafts with the elderly
- Gardening at Wasven care farm

Who and why?
Have you ever encountered someone who is homeless or without steady housing in the city? Did you take a moment to ask about their story? Here’s your chance to engage in meaningful dialogue. Join for a unique tour guided by former homeless individuals who share their experiences and provide an inside look into life on the streets. You’ll see Eindhoven through their eyes, gaining a fresh perspective on their lives and struggles. This unforgettable experience will challenge your assumptions and inspire deep reflection.
The city guides from Ervaring die Staat (Experience That Counts) use this opportunity to share their stories, develop their strengths, and raise awareness about the realities of homelessness. By offering a glimpse into their world, they aim to foster understanding and break down stereotypes, creating a more compassionate society.
Dinnertime
At the end of the day, from approximately 17:00 – 19:00, you’ll join fellow participants at Seats2Meet on StrijpS to share stories, insights, and laughter over a delicious dinner and drinks. We ask for a small contribution of €5 towards the cost of the dinner, which is included in the registration price.
Social Heroes: Street Tour with Former Homeless People is a collaboration between Social Heroes Stehven, Samen voor Eindhoven, Ervaring die Staat and Studium Generale.
