Grandmas who become pregnant via in vitro fertilization (ivf) [news item]; doctors who operate embryos and fetuses with physical abnormalities that are not viable; people who take their own life humanely, e.g. using medicines or the Helium Method, because they do not want to live anymore although they do not suffer from any physical illness.

These are a few examples that show how we influence and control our health and wellbeing by using technology. However, it also raises questions about the ethical limits of technological progress. To what extent could and should we decide about the life and death of ourselves and others? Are we playing God?
