Was finger painting the first artistic skill you mastered in life when you were a toddler? Well, then now it’s time to take your painting skills to the next level. Come and throw some paint on a canvas and complete a full work of art in just one evening in this dynamic action painting workshop.

‘Action painting’ refers to a painting style that was used by artists mainly in the 1940’s until the early 1960s, whose approach to painting emphasized the physical act of painting as an essential part of the finished work. Their process involved splashing, using gestural brushstrokes, and dripping and smearing paint onto canvas rather than carefully applying it.

If you’re familiar with abstract expressionism, it’s probably through the work of Jackson Pollock, who was the leading force behind the movement. Pollock’s paintings are exhibited in the biggest art museums in the world and are among the most expensive paintings ever sold.

In this workshop, visual artist Remko Leeuw will teach you about the intuitive and expressive techniques used in action painting. You’ll also learn how to work with the paint that was used by Pollock, which reacts to water in a very specific way. All materials are provided in this workshop, including paints and canvas.

So, sign up for this workshop, throw on your coveralls, channel your inner Pollock, and get ready for some action.
