Music is universal and this hip hop phenomenon from Amsterdam will blow you away with his catchy electro funk beats, long blonde hair, and his energetic vibe, even if you don’t understand his ingenious lyrics.
At the time of the release of his cult mix tape Leipie van het plein, Donnie was seen as a protégé of the legendary Dutch hip hop crew De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig. His Dutch delivery and ingenious wordplay might have similarities and sure enough De Jeugd producer Bas Bron helped by adding deep electro funk to his sound, but since then‘Maradonnie’ has claimed his own crown and his reputation is rapidly spreading from Amsterdam. His debut album Mannelogie was one of the hip hop releases of 2015 and follow-up Loei Ordinair takes his sound one step further. With full length albums in 2017, 2018 and 2019 he’s scored hits like 180 Linkerbaan and Snelle Planga, the soundtrack of 2018, and his most recent bangers Kwijt and Barry Hayze.
