The Organ, Auditorium
Price: € 8.00 incl. vat (Student)

When you’re at a Saturday night party and someone asks what you did yesterday, and you casually answer: ’Oh, I was just playing the organ at my university.’ And yes… now is the time to grab this chance!

You probably study, have lunch, attend a Studium Generale lecture or do whatever you do in the Auditorium every now and then, but the hundred dollar question is: have you ever noticed that there’s an enormous organ in the Auditorium?

The idea of having an organ in this building came from Rector Magnificus Posthuma after the TU/e had received a donation of one million guilders (about 450,000 Euros) from Eindhoven’s electronics company Philips. The organ was realized in 1966 soon after the Auditorium had been built. It was built in such a way that it can handle organ music from all style periods. That may be a little too ambitious for you, but if you really want to play a grand organ for once: this is a unique opportunity.

The workshop will be led by the official university organist: Jan Verschuren, TU/e Electrical Engineering alumnus and also associated as organist at Leiden University.

Students only
Only a small group of students can now learn the first tricks of the organ trade, so don’t wait too long to register for this workshop.
