The fight against HIV and AIDS sold out

December 1st is World AIDS Day . It is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by HIV infection. Today, 33 million people are infected worldwide, every day 8000 people die and every 12 seconds someone becomes infected with HIV. 90% of the infected live in developing countries. Therefore the United Nations appointed the fight against HIV and AIDS as a Millennium Development Goal.

Dr. André van der Ven is internist and infectious disease specialist at the UMC St Radboud and professor International Health at the Radboud University. He will discuss the spread of the infection and the strategies to control HIV and AIDS worldwide.
