Living the scientist life sold out

Prof. Dr. Kitty Nijmeijer, Jan van den Berg
Wednesday, September 6 2017, 12:40 PM - 1:35 PM (sold out)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

From magical membranes to big career choices: Jan van den Berg Interviews recently appointed TU/e prof. Kitty Nijmeijer (Chemical Engineering and Chemistry)  on scientific inspiration and making a contribution to a sustainable world.

Membranes are filters with fascinating properties. Properly engineered, they can transform polluted ditch water into fresh water ready to drink and they are even able to generate sustainable energy. Welcome to the world of Kitty Nijmeijer, professor Membrane Materials and Processes at TU/e, who is one of the first to manipulate membranes in such a way to give them new and almost magical qualities.

After working at the University of Twente for 15 years, in 2016 Nijmeijer moved to TU/e to set up her own lab and start a new research group targeting the development of new membranes for technological applications. Today she elaborates on her drive and passion for science, working together with the industry and building an exciting career in research.

Jan van den Berg frequently offers researchers the stage as host of the theater show ‘Professoren op het podium’ (professors on stage). He has a background in theater and a passion for science. As a theater maker, artistic director and documentary maker, he specializes in thinking and researching at the intersection of salt and sweet, basic and applied, science and society.
