Lecture

Inequality: a matter of perspective sold out

dr. Robert Inklaar
Wednesday, May 11 2016, 12:40 PM - 1:35 PM (sold out)
Blauwe Zaal Auditorium

Global wealth is concentrated in few hands; a fact emphasized by Thomas Piketty and taken up in development debates by, for example, Oxfam. Yet this is only one perspective and perhaps not the most relevant for economic policy. Robert Inklaar broadens the discussion by considering other perspectives, on inequality across and within countries; on inequality of wealth, income and opportunity; and on how inequality relates to developments such as globalization and automation.

Robert Inklaar is an Associate Professor at the University of Groningen, where he studies the drivers of economic growth and development. In his research, the development and implementation of new economic measurement approaches play a central role. He has recently published on measuring cross-country income differences, as part of the widely-used Penn World Table database, and on international income inequality.

This program is organized in cooperation with TU/e Finance Week.
